Do I Have to Lie to my Diary?

Do I Have to Lie to my Diary was on display in Xpace Cultural Centre’s Window Space from March 1 - April 6, 2019, with an essay by Izzy Mink, and documentation by Polina Teif.

With today’s constant flow of information and images there is always something new to react or relate to, creating a feeling of imminent unease. Do I Have to Lie to my Diary is a large-scale pencil crayon drawing featuring hyper-recognizable references, jokes, bright colours and patterns; as well as a corresponding full-body paper mâché portrait. With not one but two faces, the sculpture is simultaneously taking in the artwork on display behind her, and checking in with her peers (the viewers on the other side of the glass) on how to react to it.
